Theme Notebook

Showing belief in someone can help a person to feel valued.

Theme Notebook 2

“The door was open. He could make a dash for it down the hall. He could run, run, run, run, run!” “The woman was sitting on the day-bed. After a while she said, I were young once and I wanted things I could not get.” “Do you need somebody to go to the store, asked the boy, maybe get some milk or something?” “Don’t believe I do, said the woman, unless you want sweet milk yourself.” These quotes show that Roger (the boy) wanted to run from all of it, then Ms. Luella believed in him, once the boy had seen and felt this he became more mature, and wanted to be believed in, he became a better person after he had met Ms. Luella. The boy felt as if he was special once Luella had believed in him, and give him things he could not get before he had met her. Roger had possibly become a better person once he had someone believe in him, because before he had nobody, “There’s nobody home at my house, said the boy.” This made the boy who he was, and made him do what he had to do. Roger isn’t the only person who isn’t believed in, and to be terrible at things, and be hated, Teddy Stallard had problems as well.

Teddy Stallard is a boy who used to be fun, and joyful in school, once he hit the 3rd grade all that changed once his mother had died of a bad illness, he started becoming disliked, not only by students but by his 5th grade teacher. His teacher bullied him, she enjoyed failing him, and leaving him until the end. Once his 5th grade teacher had read his school record, she had become disappointed and ashamed of herself, she didn’t know that Teddy’s mother had died, and it affected his home and school life. His father didn’t take much interest in Teddy’s work, Teddy tried hard to make his dad and teachers proud of him, no matter how hard he tried, his father couldn’t care less. Teddy’s 5th grade teacher had taken much interest in this, and started treated Teddy a bit differently. Once Christmas had come, she felt even worse, Teddy got his mother’s rhinestone bracelet and a ¼ filled bottle of perfume, this had belonged to his mother. His 5th grade teacher quit teaching what she had been teaching, and had become a reading teacher, she took the most interest in Teddy, he had become one of the smartest kids by the end of the year. Teddy had gone onto a great life, he had finished high school 3rd in his year, and he had graduated college with the highest of honor’s. Teddy had become a doctor, and he had his bachelor’s degree. Teddy had been getting married, and because of his mother and father’s death he had asked his 5th grade teacher to sit where his mother should be. She wore the same rhinestone bracelet and the same ¼ filled perfume he had given her for Christmas. Teddy had hugged her and whispered in her ear, thank you for believing in me. This story tells that one boy’s childhood was the worst, his 5th grade teacher then started believing in him, after that, he had become an amazing student just because his 5th grade teacher had showing him belief, therefore he grew up to be a honor student, and a doctor.

Teddy’s life changed fully once someone believed in him, Roger’s life changed once Luella had started believing in him, their lives both became better, Teddy a honor student, Roger possibly got a good job, but he didn’t steal anymore. Both of these stories tell that once someone believes in you, or if you believe in you, you can change fully, you become a better person, and start showing what you can really do. “you can have anything you want if you will give up the belief that you cant have it.” – Dr. Robert Anthony

There are Two Sides to Justice

Theme Notebook 1

There are two sides to justice, the first one is society justice where one group of people wins, and the second one is personal justice, where only you win. In the story Lamb to the Slaughter, Mary’s personal justice was how she didn’t forfeit her life, and stay with the baby, the society’s justice was how the police came and did all they could to help Mary. Mary didn’t go to jail, this is because she covered up her crime, and she wanted to keep her baby, not abandon her baby, Mary thought she had nothing to live for, then she had remembered her other man, inside her belly, therefore she covered up the crime, and kept the baby safe. The society’s justice was when the police had come, even though they did not find out that Mary had killed her husband, they did all that they could to keep her happy, keep her occupied, and also find evidence from what was around the house, they still did the justice of keeping a woman safe from harm.

This picture tells about a woman who is trying to reach for her inner devil. Picasso shows that this woman is trying to get something she needs. This woman is glimmering with beauty, her appearance is bright colored, and her reflection is dark colored, this could possibly mean that her outside shows that she is a nice person, covered in beauty, her inside is evil, older, darker, and uglier. This picture tells me that beauty isn’t personality. What the picture suggests is Picasso’s life, or what he is feeling inside, or someone he might have met.

Justice means the administering of deserved punishment or reward. Being punished means going to jail or a death sentence, for those who did wrong. The reward would be personal victory, because they have just won a case, and possibly gained money. It is also universal justice because the person that has done wrong has just been put into jail. People will do what they can for their Justice, and they try their best, they do this for themselves, and the country, or possibly the world.
